Morrissey不愧是我最愛的搖滾老頭之一
（其實他還不算老啦！）
個人專輯至今已有八張
卻是真正少數張張都未曾讓我失望的歌手
褪去The Smiths的光環
卻讓他真正鋒芒畢露
製作格局也更為大氣
少了與吉他手Johnny Mars的針鋒相對
絮叨冗長的敘事詩句（其實我很愛）
變得更為簡練凝結
2004年的《You Are the Quarry》在我眼中幾乎完美的頂級之作；時隔兩年的《Ringleader of the Tormentors》倒也不徨多讓讓我大呼過癮！在此就先分享其中兩首歌曲。
〈I Will See You in Far-off Places〉作為開場曲格外的醒目聆聽時，腦中竟浮現高更的名畫──
《我們打哪兒來？我們是誰？我們往哪兒去？》
或許是神秘撩人的「東方」宗教色彩
和那幾句作為困惑人生總體詰問的詞意
似乎是企圖以虛無迷幻的意象談論著「愛與和平」
但是若聽到後面
” If your god bestows protection upon you
if the USA doesn't bomb you”
其政治批判性便昭然若揭
一面嘲弄宗教的虛無
一面反諷自以為正義的「流氓國家」（喬姆斯基語）
聽了真爽！
也為專輯《Ringleader of the Tormentors》
「痛苦的元兇」定調、破題。

這張專輯在很多地方都與「義大利」脫離不了關係
首先它是在義大利羅馬錄製的
其製作人是曾經製作過T－Rex、David Bowie的Tony Visconti
（詳其姓氏應該也是義大利裔）
另外，專輯中最早問世的單曲－〈You Have Killed Me〉也非常有意思
Morrissey模擬兩位於七零年代過世且備受爭議的義大利導演
帕索里尼（Pier Paolo Pasolini）和維斯康堤（Luchino Visconti）的語氣
唱出”You have killed me……always I do forgive you”
道出兩人不為人理解的「痛苦」。
